1 of the best songs from Aussie singer/songwriter/guitarist Courtney Barnett's 2015 debut album Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit is the 2nd to last track entitled Kim's Caravan. It's a heavy, beautiful, slow burn that I bet is especially moving live.
Don't ask me what I really mean
I am just a reflection
Of what you really wanna see
So take you want from me

Giudecca by Ghost Culture
Thanks to a music friend encouraging me to follow 1 of HIS good music friends on Spotify last night, I just discovered Ghost Culture aka James Greenwood & am now obsessed with the song Giudecca. Ghost Culture's entire debut album Ghost Culture, which was released via Phantasy Sound on 1/12/15, is an incredibly impressive solo artist's 1st release. Check it out on Spotify now!

Have You Ever Seen The Official Video for Turn Down For What by DJ Snake & Lil Jon??
A few weeks ago, I was enjoying some Saturday night cocktails with a group of about 10 people &, after the song was randomly mentioned, I discovered I was 1 of only 2 who had seen the official video for the 2013 smash hit Turn Down For What by DJ Snake & Lil Jon. We all know the song but the question is: Have YOU seen the video? If not, I suggest you brace yourself...

MEET Zoe & The Bear
Little Balloon & Jeffrey are just 2 of the killer tracks from Zoe & The Bear's debut album The Lost Files Mixtape which was released last Tuesday 4/14. I'm so thankful my friend Matt turned me onto this hot new duo consisting of Zoë Soul & J "The Bear" Bynum.
You might recognize Zoë from such films as The Purge: Anarchy & Prisoners or, most recently, BET's Queen Latifah-produced series Single Ladies. J is a musician & producer who's performed with a huge variety of artists like Ray Charles & Bonnie Raitt & has written &/or produced for everyone from Akon & Rick Ross to Michael Bolton & Jim Jones.
Zoe & The Bear's May 15th show at The Hotel Café is going to be something special. Buy your tickets NOW because it's sure to sell out -> https://www.hotelcafe.com/tickets/?s=events_view&id=3870

No Offense to Sir Elton John But...
...My Morning Jacket's cover of Rocket Man is even better than the original. I still can't wait to hear Elton John play it live at Outside Lands in SF in August though! I'm sure I'll like his version too :)
I know it's a huge stretch but I feel the need to point out MMJ doesn't currently have a show scheduled for Sunday 8/9 & that's the night EJ is headlining Outside Lands. I'm gonna go ahead & dream that Jim James might pop up as a special guest during Elton John's performance although I realize it's ridiculously unlikely since they're playing in Georgia on 8/7 & 8/8 & Alabama on 8/10. If only they were closer to Cali that weekend!

Reflections by Django Django
Another act I'm especially excited to see at Outside Lands in SF in August is Django Django!! They put on such a fun live show! Keep an eye out for their 2nd studio album Born Under Saturn on May 4th &, if you have the opportunity to see them in person, seize it!!

Coachella 2015: 11 Years & Still Going Strong
Coachella 2015 was my 11th Coachella in a row & a record I never intended to set but I just keep goin' back for more! It was yet another INCREDIBLE 3 days of awe-inspiring live music performances, insane artwork, gorgeous lights, nonstop dancing & sunbathing while surrounded by palm trees, fresh air, desert mountains & shiny, happy people as far as the eye could see. Sorry Disneyland but Coachella definitely wins the title of "The Happiest Place On Earth".
Some of my favorite performances of the weekend include:
1 - Jack White
2 - St. Vincent
3 - Run The Jewels
4 - Sylvan Esso
5 - Caribou
6 - Tame Impala
7 - Flying Lotus
8 - RAC
9 - Lykke Li
10 - Ghostface Killah & Raekwon
11 - alt-J
12 - Ratatat
13 - Alabama Shakes

Need You Now by Hot Chip - Official Video
Now that I'm back from the desert & my music festival juices are flowing, it's time to start getting pumped for the next one! I can't wait to see Hot Chip for my 5th (or possibly 6th) time at Outside Lands in SF in August!!

TV On The Radio & Shabazz Palaces @ Hollywood Palladium - 4/3/15
A couple months ago, my sweet & thoughtful boyfriend, George, was so kind as to give me a pair of tickets to see TV On The Radio at Hollywood Palladium on April 3rd. TVOTR is 1 of my favorite live bands (I've seen them at least 5-6x times now) & George had never seen them before so it worked out perfectly for both of us.
Per usual, TV On The Radio was absolutely fantastic. The fact that they opened with their classic track Young Liars & closed with another timeless hit Staring At The Sun made me extra happy. Also, Shabazz Palaces rocked their opening set! I hope to get another chance to see them soon!
A kickass concert in Hollywood exactly 1 week before the 1st day of Coachella was the ideal Coachella-warmup!

Sunshine On My Back by The National - NEW!
Last Thursday, The National released a previously unheard track entitled Sunshine On My Back. It features vocals from Sharon Van Etten & was recorded during the band's sessions for their 2013 album Trouble Will Find Me. The song is available to anyone who rents or buys the 2013 Tom Berninger-directed documentary about The National, Mistaken For Strangers.

Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star
I was introduced to Black Star when I saw them close out the main stage on the 2nd & final night of Coachella 2005 & that performance remains 1 of my favorite live hip hop shows of all-time. Back then, Coachella was only 2 days long & there was only 1 weekend so it all felt a little more special. It was my 1st Coachella & the one that got me hooked as I'm heading back to the desert THIS FRIDAY for my 11th Coachella in a row!!
Mos Def & Talib Kweli are incredible together. They flow so smoothly that they practically sound like 1 person. Their 1998 album Mos Def & Talib Kweli Are Black Star is 1 of the greatest hip hop collaborations ever.

Tame Impala's Easter Gift To Us All Is The 2nd Single Off Their Upcoming Album! - UPDATED with NEW OFFICIAL VIDEO (5/21/15)
'Cause I'm A Man is the 2nd single from Tame Impala's upcoming 3rd studio album Currents which will be released by Interscope Records later this year. I can't wait to see Tame Impala perform this new track along with Let It Happen, the 1st new single from Currents, THIS Friday on the 1st day of Weekend 1 of Coachella!!!! AC/DC may technically be Coachella's Friday night headliner but, as far as I'm concerned, the Friday headliner is Tame Impala.

Fools Gold by The Stone Roses
For a super late #TBT musical indulgence, I suggest rockin' out to the 1989 hit Fools Gold by The Stone Roses. The fact that it's in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels (1 of my favorite movies of all-time) just makes me love it more.
King Kunta by Kendrick Lamar - Official Video
As an April Fool's Day treat for us all, last night around 6pm PST, Kendrick Lamar dropped the official video for King Kunta, the 3rd track from To Pimp A Butterfly which is also, currently, Kendrick's most popular on Spotify with over 12 million listens! Both Kendrick & his new album are breaking records left & right & for good reason. To Pimp A Butterfly is a modern-day masterpiece. I highly recommend carefully listening to the album's 16th & final, 12-minute track Mortal Man from start to finish. #CaliforniaLove

Wonder Woman by LION BABE (Produced by Pharrell Williams) - Official Video
I know #WCW ("Woman Crush Wednesday) is supposed to be about girl crushes but, to me, it's also about being a female who's crushing the day...metaphorically of course. Today's #WCW is about both! My girl crush is on Jillian Hervey of LION BABE & LB's new, Pharrell Williams-produced track Wonder Woman is inspiring me to crush the 3rd round interview I have at 3:30pm!!
