FYF Fest 2013
I'm still not sure if FYF Fest means "Fuck Yeah Fest FEST" or if it possibly means just "Fuck Yeah Fest" but, if it means the latter, it should just be called FYF. It's a little confusing but, in the grand scheme of things, no one gives a shit because it's fuckin awesome!
Last weekend was the 10th annual FYF (my 4th FYF in a row) & the way the festival has improved just over the last 4 years alone is astounding. In 2010, I had a great time but had many a gripe about organizational problems (i.e. insanely long bathroom lines, lack of water availability, super long beer lines & the longest line to actually ENTER a fest pretty much ever) BUT, even 1 year later, in 2011, I noticed vast improvement so, by 2013, everything seemed to be running pretty smoothly. Bathroom lines are always going to be long. There are certain things that just can't be helped. What really matters is the music & this year's FYF performances were outstanding!
Some of my favorite sets of the weekend included Toro Y Moi, Devendra Banhart (my 1st time seeing him & he was FANTASTIC), Deerhunter, TV ON The Radio, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, !!! (Chk Chk Chk), Flume, Beach House, Washed Out (another 1st & another very pleasant surprise) & Holy Ghost!. It was tough waiting for Holy Ghost!'s closing set Sunday night that didn't start until 11pm since I had to be up for work at 7am Monday but it was SO worth rallying for!
Toro Y Moi Performing Low Shoulder – Day 1 – Please note this was my 1st video of the fest & the 1st half of the short clip is more audio-friendly than visually-friendly since I was shooting ABOVE Toro Y Moi & his band for a good chunk of it…lol.
The Breeders Performing Drivin' on 9 – Day 1
Devendra Banhart Performing Never Seen Such Good Things – Day 1
Deerhunter Performing Nothing Ever Happened – Day 1 – Check out Bradford Cox’s sexy black wig & animal-print dress ;)
TV On The Radio Performing Mercy – Day 1
!!! (Chk Chk Chk) Performing Even When The Water's Cold – Day 2
Flume – Day 2
Beach House – Day 2
Washed Out Performing Get Up – Day 2
Holy Ghost! Performing It's Not Over – Day 2
Holy Ghost! Performing I Will Come Back – Day 2

Outside Lands 2013
The weather is San Franciso in mid August is rarely good but the incredible live music in Golden Gate Park always makes up for it :)
I've been going to Outside Lands in SF every year since it 1st started 5 or 6 years ago & it just keeps getting better. Getting to see Nine Inch Nails for my 2nd time ever was the highlight of my weekend but runners up included Yeah Yeah Yeahs (Karen O is my hero), The National, Pretty Lights, Paul McCartney, Atlas Genius, Yeasayer, Chromatics & Red Hot Chili Peppers. I definitely missed a few acts I wanted to see (i.e. Hall & Oates, Daughter & MS MR) but, whenever I miss something I want to see at any given festival, I can usually justify it by saying it was for a good cause!
Band of Horses Performing The Funeral
Rhye Performing Last Dance
The National Performing This Is The Last Time
Yeasayer Performing Madder Red
Chromatics
Pretty Lights
Paul McCartney Performing Day Tripper
Paul McCartney Performing Yesterday
Paul McCartney Performing Helter Skelter
Atlas Genius Performing Trojans
Young The Giant
Jurassic 5 Performing Jayou
Yeah Yeah Yeahs Performing Date With The Night
Nine Inch Nails Performing Closer
Nine Inch Nails Performing The Warning
Red Hot Chili Peppers Performing Around The World
